Paddle / Plough Blender
Versatile. Intensive. No Dead Zones.
The MillNest Paddle Blender MPBL handles what ribbon blenders cannot — cohesive powders, moist materials, semi-solids, sticky ingredients and applications requiring intensive distributive mixing. Strategically angled paddles deliver three-dimensional material movement, lifting and folding the entire batch rather than pushing it in a single helical direction. The MPBL is also the conditioning equipment for pulse processing: uniform oil and water application to whole chana, toor and urad before dehusking requires exactly this kind of three-dimensional, every-particle mixing action.

The Paddle Blender MPBL uses a series of angled paddles mounted at staggered positions on a horizontal shaft running the length of a U-trough. Unlike the ribbon blender’s two long continuous helical spirals, the MPBL’s individual paddles are angled to push material in multiple directions simultaneously — inward, outward, upward and across — creating three-dimensional batch movement that lifts and folds the entire material volume.
This three-dimensional action is what makes the MPBL suited for materials that ribbon blenders cannot handle. When cohesive or moist material enters a ribbon blender, the continuous ribbon surface compresses the material against the shell wall rather than distributing it. The MPBL’s individual paddles break up cohesive masses at the impact point, distribute them through the batch and prevent wall adhesion — producing uniform distribution in materials that would simply rotate in a ribbon blender without mixing.
- Handles Cohesive, Moist, Semi-Solid & Sticky Materials
- Three-Dimensional Paddle Action — No Dead Zones
- Uniform Oil & Water Conditioning for Pulse Processing
- Faster blend times than ribbon for dense and high-viscosity formulations
- GMP SS 304 / 316 Food & Pharma Construction
- Inline liquid spray — oil, water, binder and flavour addition during blending
- Staggered angled paddles — no dead zones at trough ends or shell wall
- Heating or cooling jacket option for temperature-controlled blending
- No liquid addition required during blending
- CE & ATEX compliance options

The MPBL is ideal for gentle, homogeneous blending of fragile, fibrous and free-flowing powders, granules and flakes. Its low-shear mixing action minimizes particle damage, making it suitable for food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and specialty chemical applications.
- Chilli, turmeric, coriander, cumin & whole spices
- Dried herbs — parsley, basil, oregano, bay leaf
- Sugar, salt and dehydrated vegetable powders
- Grains, pulses and cereal ingredients
- Pharma excipients and nutraceutical blends
- Chemical powders and pigments (ATEX & Non-ATEX)

These four conditions indicate the MPBL Paddle Blender is the right starting point. Submit your material for a blending trial before final selection.
- Your material is cohesive, moist, sticky or involves liquid addition during blending
- You need uniform oil or water conditioning of whole grains or pulses before dehusking
- A ribbon blender has produced poor uniformity, bridging at discharge or inadequate distribution
- Faster blend times than 15 minutes are required, or the material resists blending in a ribbon geometry
Not sure if MPBL is right for your formulation?
Share your material, liquid addition requirements, batch size and uniformity specification. Our engineers will confirm whether the paddle mechanism is the right approach — or whether the ribbon blender or a different solution is more appropriate
